AI data processing and regions
Use this article to explain where AI processing and knowledge processing fit into the tenant data-region story without exposing internal infrastructure details.
What users should understand
| Area | Customer-facing description |
|---|---|
| AI | The regional model-processing path used for chat, templates, workflows, and agent tasks where available. |
| Knowledge AI | The processing used for document search, retrieval, and knowledge grounding. For UK tenants, describe this as Knowledge AI in the UK where that is the configured boundary. |
| Attachments and documents | Files are used only for the task or stored feature the user selects, subject to tenant policy and retention settings. |
| Web search | Current public web context is only used when enabled and allowed by tenant policy. |
Before you begin
- Confirm the organisation shown in the tenant selector.
- Check the tenant data region before sharing residency statements.
- Review global settings that affect web search, voice input, response caching, redaction, and topic sources.
- Do not publish internal resource names, endpoints, subscription IDs, or security implementation details.
Explain regional AI processing
- Open Administration → Data region.
- Confirm the tenant region displayed for the organisation.
- Open Administration → Global Settings and review the controls that affect AI, web search, source access, and redaction.
- Use customer-facing wording such as AI processing and Knowledge AI rather than implementation jargon.
- Escalate to the account or support team when a customer needs a formal residency statement.
Expected result: users understand the region and AI-processing boundary at a product level without receiving internal operational details.
